Dhu al-Hijjah is a Month of Great Virtue: Allama Rana Idrees
Hajj is a Practical Manifestation of Unity and Brotherhood of the Muslim Ummah: Deputy Secretary General
Hajj Teaches Taqwa, Patience, Sacrifice, and Selflessness: Address at Jamy Shaykh-ul-Islam

Addressing a large Friday congregation at Jamy Shaykh-ul-Islam on the topic “The Philosophy and Virtue of Hajj,” Allama Rana Muhammad Idrees, Deputy Secretary General of Tehreek Minhaj-ul-Quran, emphasized that Dhu al-Hijjah is a month of immense virtue. Allah Almighty has sworn by the first ten nights of this sacred month in the Holy Qur’an, which highlights their significance and sanctity.
He stated that Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam, obligatory once in a lifetime upon every financially and physically able Muslim. This act of worship is not only a source of spiritual purification but also a symbol of unity and cohesion among Muslims. Hajj, he said, represents the collective consciousness, solidarity, and brotherhood of the Muslim Ummah.
Allama Idrees emphasized that Hajj is not merely a physical ritual, but a profound lesson in spiritual purity, patience, selflessness, and unity. Pilgrims, by donning the Ihram, detach themselves from worldly associations and perform deeds solely for the pleasure of Allah. The Hajj journey grants individuals the opportunity to repent from sins and begin a new life.
He further explained that the rituals of Hajj—Tawaf of the Kaaba, Sa'i between Safa and Marwah, standing at Arafat, and stoning of the devil—are stages of spiritual elevation that bring a person closer to Allah. Hajj teaches us that the world is temporary, and true success lies in seeking Allah’s pleasure and humbling oneself before Him.
Highlighting the universal message of equality and unity, he noted that during Hajj, millions of people wear the same simple attire, engage in the same rituals, and raise the same cry of “Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk”, signifying that all distinctions of race, color, language, and geography are irrelevant before Islam.
He urged the Muslim Ummah to internalize the true spirit of Hajj and implement its teachings in collective and individual life. After the Friday prayer, Allama Rana Muhammad Idrees led a special prayer for the peace and safety of the nation, and for the unity of the Muslim Ummah.
