Qadri's march leaves for Islamabad
LAHORE: The Tehreek-e-Minhajul Quran long march, led by THQ Chief Dr Tahirul Qadri, left for Islamabad from Model Town on Sunday afternoon.
Talking to the media before departure, the TMQ Chief said the long march was being staged for ensuring the rule of in the country.
Expressing solidarity with protesters at Quetta, he said the provincial government should be dismissed due to the incident in which many innocent people were killed.
He said long march is being held for democracy adding that it was a rally of poor class.
He said, the Punjab government would have to be answerable for their strict action.
A large number of people, including women, had gathered at Tehreek-Minhajul Quran Markaz to join the march.
Earlier, preparations continued through the night as TMQ activists placed banners and loudspeakers on trucks, buses and other vehicles.
Punjab Police had made strict security arrangements for the participants in the march across the province. Over 10,000 police officials have been deployed along the route of the long march.
Senior police officers were present when the march left Model Town for Islamabad.
