Defence Day celebrated at Minhaj University

Registrar of Minhaj University Col. (r) Muhammad Ahmad has said that September holds a unique position in the country’s history. He said that the 6th of September reminds us of the heroic struggle of the people and exemplary sacrifices of the armed forces of the country during the defence of the motherland. The purpose of holding ceremonies to mark September 6 was to make our young generation aware of the spirit and untold sacrifices that our forefathers rendered for the protection of the country, he said.

Col. (r ) Ahmad expressed these views while addressing a prestigious function held to pay tributes to the armed forces of Pakistan on the occasion of Defence Day in Minhaj University in Lahore. Vice Chancellor of the University Prof Dr Ali Muhammad presided over the ceremony, Prof Dr Muhammad Aslam, Dr Talib Hussain, Prof Shafique Jalandhri, GM Malik, teachers and students of the University were also present on the occasion.

The Registrar of Minhaj University underlined the need of reviving the spirit of unity, harmony and togetherness to resolve our problems and not let the sacrifices of forefathers go to waste in view of challenges facing the country at internal and external level. He said that September 6 would be remembered as a day of valour, supreme sacrifice, national harmony and unity, and an example of conviction in one’s goals not only in the history of the country but also of the world.

Col. (r ) Muhammad Ahmad said that at a time when the entire nation was celebrating the Defence Day, the country was confronted with grave challenges and threats to its territorial integrity. He said that internal and external anti-Pakistan elements were busy undermining our foundations. He asked the nation to summon the spirit of September 6, 1965 to be able to fight off these challenges. He said that we should pledge on this that we would not allow any force to harm our dear motherland and would continue to play our role to serve the nation in our respective domains. He asked the students to recognize their role in this regard and refrain from doing anything that brought a bad name to the nation.
