Minhaj-ul-Quran International Norway Commemorates Shaykh-ul-Islam Day 2026 in Oslo

This weekend, Minhaj-ul-Quran International Norway commemorated Shaykh-ul-Islam Day 2026 at Minhaj-ul-Quran Oslo, an annual occasion marking the birthday of the founder of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri.
The evening was hosted by Allama Hafiz Sadaqat Ali, who warmly and eloquently guided the audience through the program. The event began with a beautiful and spiritually uplifting recitation of the Qur’an by Abdullah Khan, Board Member, MYL Oslo, followed by nasheed and manqabat performances by Abdul Mannan and Haroon Qayyum. These opening segments created a reverent and reflective atmosphere for the gathering.
The first panel discussion, conducted in Norwegian and moderated by Awais Ejaz Ahmed, president, MQI Norway, addressed the theme: “How can Shaykh-ul-Islam’s work be translated into practice?” The panelists — Ayesha Khan, President, Minhaj Dialogforum; Saira Nisar, President, Minhaj Kvinneforum Kløfta; and Danial Anwar, President, Minhaj Youth League Kløfta — reflected on how his extensive theological and intellectual contributions can be applied within a Norwegian context. The discussion was both relevant and practical, encouraging thoughtful consideration of how the community can carry his legacy forward through meaningful and concrete action.
The second panel discussion was held in Urdu and moderated by Allama Nasir Ali Awan. The panel featured Allama Muhammad Iqbal Fani, Allama Naseer Noori, and Allama Zubair Tabassum, who explored Shaykh-ul-Islam’s academic and theological scholarship in greater depth. They highlighted how his life’s work has strengthened the understanding of Islam’s core values, promoted balance and clarity in religious thought, and offered guidance in addressing contemporary religious and societal challenges. The panel emphasized how his contributions have helped unite and strengthen Muslim communities globally, and how his scholarship continues to serve as a source of guidance today.
The event concluded with a collective iftar, where attendees broke their fast together. This final part of the evening fostered a warm and inclusive atmosphere, providing an opportunity for fellowship, dialogue, and strengthened community ties. Guests were also able to visit book stands featuring literature related to Shaykh-ul-Islam’s work, allowing for further academic and spiritual enrichment. Shaykh-ul-Islam Day 2026 was a meaningful and successful commemoration, reflecting the enduring relevance and impact of his scholarship and legacy.
