The event started with the Quranic recitation and this was performed by Sister Saba Ahmed (MWL Cheetham Hill secretary). The Sisters then recited Darood Shareef individually. Sister Saba Ahmed (MWL Cheetham Hill Media Sectary) delivered a saddening and moving speech on the Battle of Karbala and described what happened to our Beloved Hazrat Hussain (AS) and his dear family. There were significant tragic and heart breaking events that took place on the 10th of Ashura. The lesson to be learnt from this epoch-making event is that Beloved Prophet (Peace and Blessings upon him) and his family sacrificed themselves for Islam.
MQI (Nottingham) organised the annual Muharram Programme which was held on Thursday 21 oct 2015 to reflect on and remember the great sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his family and friends. This programme was hosted at Bobbersmill Community Centre, Masjid Ash-Shifa from 7-9pm. This programme was broadcasted live on radio dawn 107.6fm.Our chief guests were President MQI UK, Allama Syed Ali Abbas Bukhari, Dr. Musharraf Hussain Al Azhari, President Jamaat Ahle Sunnah Nottingham, Allama Hassan Jamil, Mufti M Ismail Sahb, Qari Naseer, General Secretary Midlands zone, Tanvir Pasha and other Ulama from Nottingham.
Minhaj Women League (West Bridgford) held its weekly Halqa-e-Durood on 19th October 2015 at the home of Sister Salma Rafiq. Alhamdulillah, this meeting was attended enthusiastically by both MWL members and non-members. The Halqa commenced with a beautiful recitation and translation of the Glorious Quran by Sister Kausar Yaqoob (Dawah Secretary). As the holy month of Muharram set in, the congregation listened to Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri's speech that explained the events and philosophy of Karbla.
The dinner ceremony was hosted on October 18, 2015 for the pilgrims who performed Hajj in this year in Minhaj-ul-Quran Educational and Cultural Center N J. The ceremony started with the recitation of Quran. This recitation was performed by Hafiz Moaz and Hafiz Tanveer Ahmad. The ceremony was anchored and managed by Mohammad Sharif Kamalvi, Director of Minhaj-ul-Quran center N J.
On the 18th October, Minhaj-ul-Quran Women League (Alum Rock, Birmingham) organised a special Muharram programme. The gathering commenced with the recitation of the Glorious Quran which was done wonderfully by Sister Zahra. Soon after Qasida Burda Shareef was recited beautifully by Sister Maria and Manqabats were presented nicely in the praise of Imam Hussain (RA) by Sister Habiba and Sister Tabassum.

In Minhaj-ul-Quran Ghous-e-Azam Mosque, a program was held on 15th Oct 2015 about the Shahadat-e-Farooq e Azam Sayyiduna Umar (R.A). The event started with the recitation of the holy Quran by Qari Muhammad Ismail Hamdani. Naat was recited by Hafiz Muhammad Mukarram Niazi. Allama Afzal Ahmed Qadri, while delivering his speech, paid rich tributes to the leadership of Hazrat Umar e Farooq (RA), the second Caliph of Islam.

Sister Nasreen Akhtar (Dawah Secretary) commenced with peaceful recitation of the Glorious Quran. This was then followed by Durood Sharif which was recited for around 30-40 minutes by all the attendees. The amount of Durood Sharif read each week is recorded and passed on at an international level by Sister Nasreen Akhtar.

Addressing the spiritual gathering, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said that the religious leaders and Mashaykh will have to deliberate on the ways and means to serve the humanity. He said that the spiritualists, mystics and religious scholars employed the goodwill to serve the people without any discrimination, adding that it was through relentless service of humanity that they propagated the message of Islam.
Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Chairman of MQI Supreme Council, addressed the UNESCO Conference. He started his speech in Arabic by congratulating the organizers of the event with reference to the 100th anniversary of the Alawi Sufi order. Dr. Hassan said that if people focus on just one or two aspects of Islam, the attitude will cause them to lose balance in practicing the faith.

Minhaj ul Quran Canada participated in the Eid dinner & civic engagement event organized by our MQI Central Working Committee member Mr. Syed Tasawwar Shah. The objective of this event was to promote civic engagement and ask the public to participate in the upcoming Federal Election 2015. This event was well attended by candidates and members of parliament from various Canadian political parties like NDP, Conservative, Liberal and members of Election Canada.
On Sunday the 27th of September 2015, Minhaj-ul-Quran Women League (London) participated in an event held by Minhaj-ul-Quran International London in conjunction with Macmillan Cancer Support at MQI centre London. The purpose of the event was to raise awareness within the community with regard to the dangers of cancer and the support network available to those who suffer from this deadly disease. Also, this was an option for some people to come forward and share their experiences.
