YOUNG Muslim leaders have warned against the UK carrying out airstrikes in Syria saying the move would fail to curb the rise of the terror group Daesh. Senior members of the community said the intervention would inevitably lead to a “backlash” against the west and stoke up further support for the extremist organisation among Muslim youths both in Britain and in the Middle East.

This meeting was held shortly after the historic launch of the Anti-Terror curriculum; the first of its kind providing academics with a resource to theologically refute any extremist or radicalism ideologies, which are becoming alarmingly popular in the society.

In his speech at the Globsec conference in Bratislava,Slovakia (18 June 2015), David Cameron chose to address the issue of religious extremism and radicalization. He was guarded in his language in stating that there were “some” people holding “some” of the extremist views, but that they didn’t “go as far as advocating violence” but they did, “buy into some of these prejudices giving the extremist Islamist narrative weight,” which “turns simmering prejudice into murderous intent.”

The month of Ramadan is a very special time for Muslims across the globe, as it is a time when people strive harder than ever to please their Lord and gain blessings. Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, abstaining from food or drink for the whole period. This can also be classified as a Jihad in the way of Allah, for inner peace, purification and satisfaction as well as a Jihad against one's lower self also known as Nafs.

London: A prominent Pakistani Islamic cleric has launched a "counter-terrorism" curriculum in London, to rebut the message of militant groups such as Islamic State (IS or ISIS) and stop young people becoming radicalised and heading to Syria. I have prepared the Islamic curriculum on peace and counter-terrorism to help tackle the distortions of religious teachings that lead to radicalisation. It is an unfortunate fact that through the actions of a minority, Islam and Muslims have become closely associated with terrorism. As a result, Muslim citizens or residents of western countries have come under increased scrutiny, with questions being raised about identity, multiculturalism and loyalty to the state.
