The Sharif government has been weakened. Khatir Ghaznavi wrote so famously: “Go zara si baat par barsoan ke yaraaney gaye laikin itna to hua kuch loag pehchaney gaye” (years of friendship dissolved over a minor incident but served to expose some people). Dragging on this regime for another three and a half years seems difficult. Interestingly, freedom of the press was given to Pakistan by a dictator, Pervez Musharraf. Freedom of the press is an integral part of democracy. Despite all the claims of safeguarding democracy by parliament, the Sharif government has (temporarily) closed a private television channel. The blame is passed around: the Lahore High Court did not order the channel’s closure, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) ordered it but PEMRA does not have a legitimate chief, etc.
Law, justice, and democracy have been killed in this country. We will put in place a pro-people system through revolution. The people of Haripur offered funeral prayers for the system of oppression symbolically and time is not far away when this system would be sent packing for good. We would not betray blood of martyrs nor would we compromise on it. Those accusing us of deal are paid people who are working on the agenda of their financers just to malign PAT. The rulers want to suck the last drop of masses’ blood through rigorous and massive taxes.
PAT leader Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that all expenses of revolution march and sit-in have been borne by PAT workers both inside and outside Pakistan. Paying a rich tribute to workers, he said that there is no more precious asset in the world than workers. He said that his advice to every leader is that he should always love them. He said that both friends and foes admit today that no other party has similar workers as he has.
Pakistan Awami Tahreek Chief Dr Tahirul Qadri has said that the present government has neither vision nor capacity and future planning to steer the country out of the prevailing crisis. Qadri said, "We are believers of the Constitution but Article 9 to 38, which deals with the people rights have been suspended. We want the implementation of all the articles of the Constitution and a participatory democracy." He added that corruption was prevalent at all levels.
ISLAMABAD: Chief of Pakistan Awami Tehrek (PAT), Dr Tahirul Qadri has said that a peaceful protest by the oppressed people of the country has shaken all the power corridors, ARY News reported. Addressing his workers and followers at the D-Chowk, Dr Tahirul Qadri said, “Your peaceful protest has shaken the power corridors and the rulers are afraid of this awareness among the oppressed people”.
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Dr. Tahirul Qadri has hinted at ending his sit-in if government make an amendment into the constitution, ARY News reported Monday. “An amendment should be made in the constitution that no case will be filed against the rulers even if they commit a murder,” he said while referring to the Model Town tragedy in which around two dozen people, mostly PAT workers, were killed by the police.

Jolting the status quo by Farooq Hameed Khan
LAHORE: Police inserted on Monday section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act and three more sections of the Pakistan Penal Code into the FIR about the June 17 Model Town incident lodged against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and 19 others on the complaint of Minjahul Quran secretariat.
ISLAMABAD - The Lahore High Court’s decision of vetting the Sessions Court ruling in the case of Model Town tragedy proved to be an energy drink for Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Dr Tahirul Qadri who on Tuesday announced that now it was not just about sending the government to packing but they were not going anywhere till Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif are hanged to death.
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Senior journalist Kamran Shahid on Tuesday revealed details of judicial commission’s report pertaining to Model Town tragedy. The report compiled by Justice Baqir Ali Najfi of the Lahore High Court (LHC) directly holds Punjab government responsible for ‘bloodbath’ in Model Town area. It was mentioned in the report that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had not ordered the police to ‘disengage’ from the clashes with Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) supporters, resulting in the deaths of at least 14 people and injuries to over 80 others.
