Dr Tahirul Qadri on Thursday filed an application with the Supreme Court wherein he prayed to the court that till the restructuring of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), its chief, the chief election commissioner (ECP), and its four members should be restrained from working. He filed the application under Order 20 Rule 1, Supreme Court Rules 1980.

ISLAMABAD: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri filed a petition in the Supreme Court on Thursday for the reconstitution of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). Qadri said that he will contest the petition himself. “I prayed to the court that the composition and constitution of the current Election Commission of Pakistan was unconstitutional. Therefore, it is void according to the law,” Qadri told the media, calling for the court to order the reconstitution of the commission.

Top leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) met Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri in Lahore on Wednesday to discuss their reservations over the current Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri unveils plan for ‘Revolution Marches’
Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has declared that the struggle he launched on December 23 and January 14 will continue unabated and ‘revolution marches’ will be held across the country. He said that the governments that had been formed for last 65 years manifestly violated Articles 3 and 38 of the Constitution. He said that implementation of both Articles would also be part of agenda in addition to electoral reforms. Minhajul-Quran International (MQI) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri has claimed that if he had allowed the participants of his January 14 long march a ‘free hand’, the country would have been placed under martial law “within five minutes”.
LAHORE: Tehreek-e-Minhajul Quran Chief Tahirul Qadri said Sunday that if he had not ended the sit-in, martial law would have been imposed in the country in the next five minutes. Addressing the central executive committee of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), Qadri said he would not allow thieves to come into power in the name of democracy. “Corrupt politicians had been robbing the country for the last 65 years.”
Addressing the participants, Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that the Long March was a seminal point of revolution. He said that the fight against looters and plunderers was not over after the Long March, adding that it had just started. He said that the ruling elite was busy in protecting their corruption at the time of Long March in the federal capital, while he was waging a struggle for restoration of people’s rights. He said that he saved Constitution and democracy on January 17, adding had he not taken immediate decision, the martial would have been imposed in the country.
