Thousands of Muslims held a rally in London on Saturday to fight extremism and promote a moderate, inclusive version of Islam.
An event organisers known as Minhaj-ul-Quran International say some 12,000 Muslims are expected at Wembley Arena. The event will be broadcast live to dozens of countries around the world. The group's founder, the Pakistan-born Islamic scholar Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, says killing innocents is forbidden in Islam and Muslims must integrate into the societies in which they're living.
The Peace for Humanity event is to be addressed by a leading Islamic scholar who will call for an end to terrorism and violence. Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, founder of Islamic organisation Minhaj-ul-Quran International, which is behind the London conference, will issue a declaration for global peace, saying: “We reject unequivocally all terrorism because at the heart of all religions is a belief in the sanctity of the lives of the innocent.
The event in Wembley arena was led by Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, a respected Pakistan-born Islamic scholar, who gained recognition outside the Muslim world after he published a detailed fatwa — or religious ruling — against terrorism and suicide bombings last year.

I am pleased to send greetings to the Minhaj-ul-Quran International Peace for Humanity Conference. Your activities are also relevant to global efforts to respond to the threat posed by terrorism. Muslims have been among those hardest-hit by this scourge. At the same time, a very small minority of Muslims have perverted their faith to justify heinous acts, prompting calls for Muslims to condemn terrorism and suicide bombings. These calls have been answered in part by your founder, Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri, through his historic Fatwa on Terrorism and Suicide Bombings.
