The state government on Thursday assured the Bombay High Court that there would be no riot-like situation in Mumbai during a programme to be conducted by Pakistani Islamic scholar Tahir-Ul-Qadri.

The city’s Muslim community has objected to the visit of a Pakistan-born Islamic scholar, saying his visit could create communal tension in Mumbai. The Raza Academy - a social and religious forum of Muslims - has filed a petition in the Bombay High Court seeking to restrain Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri from delivering lectures in Mumbai.
The Bombay high court on Wednesday asked the Mumbai police if the latter is equipped to deal with a potential law-and-order situation when Pakistan-born Canadian Tahirul Qadri, part of Pakistan based organisation Minhaj-ul-Quran, delivers his speeches in the city.
Observing that people have now become wiser and are unlikely to indulge in communal violence upon instigation, the Bombay High Court today refused to restrain Pakistani scholar Tahirul Qadri from delivering a lecture in Mumbai this evening.
The Bombay High Court today ruled out the possibility of communal riots in the city after the Pakistani scholar Tahirul Qadri has delivered his lecture observing that common people would not be instigated.
Pakistani Islamic scholar Tahirul Qadri, who has been facing threats for his condemnation of terrorism by various outfits in Pakistan, including Taliban, is scheduled to visit more than half-a-dozen places across the country from February 25 to March 18 amidst protest by some groups in Gujarat.

Shaykh-ul-Islam threw light on the status and spiritual excellence of the Friends of Allah with the help of references from the Holy Quran and Hadith. He said that some people thought that according to the Holy Quran, “Only the pious were the Friends of Allah”. The people have misconstrued the meaning of this verse of the Holy Quran, believing that every pious person was the friend of Allah and those called ‘Aula-e-Allah’ were not the special people. He said that this understanding was manifestly wrong. He said that according to the Prophetic Traditions, Friends of Allah were a special class.
AJMER: Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, Pakistani Sufi scholar and founder of Minhaj-ul-Quran International (an NGO), is expected to deliver a speech on Sufism in the dargah here on Tuesday. This will be the first time that a Pakistani scholar will talk on religious matters here.
Renowned legal expert and former Federal Minister for Law, S.M. MUMBAI: A section of Muslims is opposing the scheduled Mumbai visit of Pakistani Islamic preacher and Sufi scholar Tahirul Qadri next week. Qadri, who is on the hit list of the terrorist outfit al-Qaida for his anti-terrorism fatwa in 2010, now lives in Canada and is currently touring India.
BANGALORE: The International peace Ambassador and founder of Minhaj-ul-Quran, a cultural exchange forum in over 90 countries, Dr Tahir-Ul-Qadri delivered his peace message on Saturday. The programme was organised by the Karnataka branch of the Minhaj-ul-Quran. Speaking at the gathering he said, “One should pick the good stuff from all religions, and all religions preach peace. A false propagation is spread against Islam these days about forceful conversion, but that is not true. In the holy book it is said that no person shall be compelled to take up Islam.”

The Executives of Muslim Youth League UK Sisters made their way by air, rail and road to Glasgow, Scotland, for the first session of the executive tour, which took place on (Sunday) 11th March 2012.
