A welcome programme was arranged on Nov 14, 2009 by Department of Economics in the honour of the new students who have been admitted to Minhaj University in M.A Economics programme. The annual ceremony marking the death anniversary of Qudwa-tul-Aulia Sayyidna Tahir Ala-ud-Din al-Qadri al-Gillani (R.A), the spiritual patron of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, was held in Baghdad Town (Township) Lahore the other day. The ceremony got underway with the washing of the blessed grave. Pir Sayyid Mahmood Mohi-ud-Din al-Qadri al-Gillani made special participation in it.

The act of sacrifice not only venerates and perpetuate the Sunna of Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him) but also provides an opportunity to support the downtrodden sections of society. A good is recorded in the register of actions for every hair of a sacrificial animal.

The programme was held in the Central Secretariat under the banner of Bazm-e-Qadria (Minhaj University) on November 10, 2009, which was presided over by Sahibzada Miskin Faiz-ur-Rehman Durrani, central Amir of Minhaj-ul-Quran International.
The 133rd anniversary of Hakeem-ul-Umma Allama Dr Muhammad Iqbal (RA) was celebrated with traditional veneration, fervour and enthusiasm on November 9, 2009. A special delegation comprising the central leadership of the Minhaj-ul-Quran International visited the shrine of Allama Muhammad Iqbal to offer special prayers and supplications for his emancipation and exaltation and pay him tributes for the historical role he played in awakening the Muslims of British India in particular and Muslim Umma in general.
The youth belonging to Minhaj-ul-Quran International joined hands in Forest Gate and held a walk on the streets of Newham to raise money for orphans. The youngsters walked a mile around the local area on Sunday morning. The sponsored walk ‘A mile for a smile’ saw youngsters set off from the Minhaj ul Quran centre and walked to Forest Gate mosque on Romford Road, al-Karam Mosque in Katherine Road, Jamia Mosque in High Street North, Newham Islamic Association in Green Street to the final destination Quwwat ul Islam mosque in Upton lane.
Shaykh-ul-Islam said that due to the negative aspect plaguing our personalities, our worship of Allah Almighty is reduced merely to ritual acts devoid of spirit. We become happy at the performance of rituals only like offering prayers five times a day. We perform Hajj, keep fast and visit the shrines of the holy saints. Unfortunately, we come to conclude that this aspect of our lives encompasses the entire concept of piety and goodness.

Minhaj Welfare Foundation organized 12 annual free eye surgery camp on November 6, 2009 on Friday where a team of specialist doctors conducted operations of hundreds of patients. Dr Imran Akram Sehaf (Head of Eye Department, General Hospital, Lahore,) supervised the camp.

A ceremony was held on November 1, 2009 under the banner of Minhaj-ul-Quran International to inaugurate the office of Minhaj Reconciliation Council (MRC) in Kharian (Gujrat). Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi, Secretary General of MQI, presided over the programme, while Mr. Robert Kevile, Norwegian ambassador to Pakistan, was the guest of honour on the occasion.
On the 1st of November 2009, the students of Minhaj-ul-Quran International Glasgow held a fundraising event to help raise funds for their local centre. The event was attended by the local Councilors; Community Leaders; Businessmen; MQI members and students.
In the serene surroundings of the Danish National Library Minhaj ul Quran International Denmark on October 31st hosted an ambitious conference with the focal point on religion and radicalism. The venue is in Copenhagen a characteristic of the beautiful Copenhagen harbor front and is also known as the “Black Diamand” from its shape and black glass facade as well as its vast collection of contemporary and classical literature underlined the knowledge base this conference was built on.
