Peace be upon the lamps and lanterns that since shine so bright! Peace be upon the sleepless eyes, and upon the streaming tears! Peace be upon the illuminated niches in the mosques, and upon the tears that are spilled and shed! Peace be upon the sighs that arise from hearts that are aflame!
(A fuller version can be found in Al-Ghunya li-Taalibii Tariiq al-Haqq, volume three, translated from the original by Muhtar Holland, and highly recommended to buy!) You must realise may Allah bestow His mercy upon you all- that this night of yours, Is the night of bidding farewell to your month, Which Allah has enobled, Which He has glorified, The value of which He has exalted, And which He has honoured,
Those who must fast: All mature and sane Muslims, male and female. Those who are exempted: The sick, the travelers, those too old to fast, women in child birth, women with periods, pregnant women whose heath is endangered, breast feeding women whose health is endangered.
Arrogance. The daddy of all sins, the characteristic found in history's most villainous beings, the reason behind the downfall of Satan and the root of all spiritual sicknesses. It is also the most despicable trait found in man. No one likes an arrogant person.
In our society keeping quiet or being an introvert are characteristics that are looked down upon. This is because our society only values what is apparent; thus the self-effacing individuals who refrain from speaking unnecessarily are known as the ones who are insecure and lacking in self-confidence, whilst the long-winded individuals are deemed as being clever, witty and successful.
The Holy Prophet (saw) has told us to appreciate five things before they go, one of which is youth before old age. Youth possess phenomenal amount of energy, and if this energy is channeled in the correct way it can guarantee a place in Paradise.
Looking for answers to questions that I had been asking myself since I was 16, I walked into Minhaj-ul-Quran Idara and asked the Imam, How do u know that God exists?, I could have walked into a church or temple but I know now that Allah had chosen my path for me, I had begun my journey to Islam.
It is a bitter April morning. The waves are humming their own little tune, as they gently wake up to the beautiful melody of the Quran. Across North West London, people reach for their radio knobs in eager anticipation. It is the first day of Rabi-ul Awwal; the first month of spring.
Al-hamdullilah, by the blessings of Almighty Allah (swt) and His beloved Rasul (saw) we were given the opportunity to present a Radio programme to the North West side of London during the blessed month of Rabi a'wwal (First Spring). We were one of the many presenters who gave their time, energy and money on a voluntary basis to spread the love of Rasul (saw) in the hearts of the listeners.
What does Islam say about being part of an organisation that is working for the betterment of Islam? Firstly what is a Jamaa? To briefly define jamaa would mean to term it as an organised society that has a clear-cut structure allowing the collective survival of deen as no concept or belief can truly survive and develop under chaos and disunity.
The right of Freedom of Speech has been much been highlighted in the media recently. So, I too have brought ink to paper to exercise this right given to me not by todays democratic nations, but by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.), 1400 years ago.
When I was asked to write an article about my personal observations regarding Dr Qadri I questioned my own perceptions about him. What is it about him that I have found different or unique in his personality?
Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri was born on the 19th of February in 1951 in the Jhang district of Pakistan. His father Dr Farid-ud-Din Qadri was a very skilled doctor in the medical field, an excellent religious scholar, an exceptionally articulate poet and speaker and last but not least a very great spiritual leader and saint of his time. He was greatly respected amongst family members as well as members of the community.
My intention was to present a coherent and intellectually binding article after I had revisited a site that not only questioned the aqida of Shaykh-ul-Islam but also spoke of him and his work in distasteful terms. As one can imagine I was in a state of great anger and wished to put forward a contribution that would silence those who resort to such means, not that I was willing to play in the hands of such perpetrators, but I wished to eliminate such injustice and relieve others of having to be subjected to such a mindset without understanding the reality.
What to speak of the beauty of Allah, what to speak of its countless beauties. No words, actions, thoughts or even my life, which cannot even be compared to the soil, can ever justify the beauty of the beloved. Sitting down now and writing about someone I am not worthy to even think about for a split second makes me want to stop.
The Holy Prophet (SAW) said " Paradise lies under the feet of mother" In this statement the holy Prophet (SAW) magnifies the status of mother and makes us understand that mothers are so exalted that even the highest place like paradise or heaven lies under her feet.
The Quran and our Prophets teachings provide a detailed account of acts of worship. Our Prophet (saas) outlines the five obligatory acts of worship: The religion of Islam is based on five fundamental principles. Attesting that there exists no god but Allah, that Muhammad is His servant and His messenger, praying, fasting and pilgrimage. (Sahih Bukhari and Muslim)
After sixty years of our long life, we, the Pakistani, are standing still at crossroad where we hesitate and linger for a moment and do not know where to go because we have uncharted sea ahead with thousands of fear lying down. Sixty years life is not too little to do well in life.
It is admitted fact that every moment, second, minute, hour, day or night that is spent in the submission of Allah Almighty and His Beloved Prophet (SAW) is exceedingly meaningful and precious. But there are some days, nights and months which have their own weight and Allah, the compassionate, lays immense stress upon them to unveil their importance to his rationale creatures.
