Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has conferred “Nishan-e-Minhaj Award” on Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi in recognition of his meritorious services as Secretary General of Minhaj-ul-Quran International. The Patron-in-Chief of MQI and PAT made this announcement in a high-powered meeting he presided in the central secretariat the other day.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that the corrupt politicians were not afraid of being disqualified under the present electoral system. He said that Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution were being put at the backburner and rendered ineffective under the fraudulent system. He said that the Supreme Court ordered the retention of ‘vote for none’ column on the ballot paper but this order was not implemented.
Sit-ins on polling day as per SC’s ruling: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri
Dr Tahirul Qadri has announced that Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) will not contest the upcoming general elections. At the end of his address at a rally in Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi, Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that the PAT would hold peaceful sit-ins at polling stations across the country on the polling day. Dr Qadri further said that the electoral reforms promised to him were not fulfilled, so he was not willing to become part of the current corrupt political system.
RAWALPINDI: Tehrik-e-Minhajul Quran (TMQ) leader Dr. Tahirul Qadri has said that formation of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was not as per the constitution, Geo News reported. Addressing a public rally here Sunday, Qadri said formation of ECP was not under article 213 of the constitution, adding the commission should be impartial and it should be reconstituted.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that Pakistan Awami Tehreek would not take part in the forthcoming polls that had the potential of breaking the country. He said that we stood for change in the system and would continue to wage unflinching struggle in this regard. He said that sit-ins would be arranged throughout the country as part of struggle aimed at changing the corrupt electoral and political system.

Speaking to the participants of motor cycle rally, Dr Raheeq Abbasi said that if elections were not held according to Articles 62, 63 and 218 of the Constitution, it would be danger to national security and integrity. He said that if PAT would not take part in elections if they did not appear fair, free and transparent but added in the same breath that PAT would continue to struggle for change and against the corrupt system. He said that steps taken by the ECP so far had rendered its neutrality and independence suspect in the eyes of the people.

Islam is a religion of peace and love. The Holy Prophet (SAW) guaranteed the complete protection of life, honour and property of the non-Muslims citizens in an Islamic state. Elections should be held on May 15 to ensure 14-day scrutiny: PAT
Minhaj-ul-Quran International (Sialkot chapter) organized workers convention on March 9, 2013 in Anwar club. PAT President Dr Raheeq Abbasi was the chief guest on the occasion. PAT leaders Haji Walayat Qaiser and Amir Yousaf were also present on the occasion. The Convention was also attended by representatives of different trade bodies and people belonging to other walks of life. MQI workers attended the convention in their large numbers.
PAT & MQI protest attack on Christian community in Lahore
The hundreds of workers belonging to PAT and MQI took out a demonstration to protest acts of vandalism and setting the houses of Christian community ablaze in Joseph Colony in Punjab. The protesters expressed their solidarity with the members of Christian community and said that these acts were a blot on the face of the country. They dubbed the incidents as a grave conspiracy to undermine the cosmopolitan, multi-cultural and plural character of the Pakistani society.
Director of MQI’s Interfaith Relations Sohail Ahmad Raza along with Jawad Hamid, Director of Directorate of Gatherings visited Christian Study Centre in Rawalpindi. They held a meeting with Director of the Centre Dr Christy, Coordinator Ms Jennifer and Christopher Sherrfs. They exchanged views on matters of mutual interest including the rights enjoyed by the non-Muslim citizens and steps that needed to be taken to protect those rights and integrate them into the mainstream.
Movement of change has become movement of revolution: Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri
Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, President of MQI’s Federal Council, has said that Pakistan was not established for the privileged ruling elite but for the poor Muslims. He said that feudal lords, industrialists, inept and corrupt politicians and the moneyed classes had been playing with the destiny of this nation for last 65 years. He said that the movement of change, which started on December 23, had become revolution now. He further added that the historic public meeting on March 17 in Rawalpindi would prove to be a watershed as the poor would get together under the leadership of Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri to give forces of status quo run for their money.
Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri’s struggle is for revival of lost glory of the Muslim community and he has been instrumental in exposing the real faces of tax evaders, defaulters and corrupt elements. We regard the agenda of electoral reforms given by Dr Qadri as central to Pakistan’s survival and extend it our all-out support. These views were expressed by Allama Nazakat Hussain Golarvi of Golra sharif during his meeting with Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri in MQI’s secretariat.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri, the leader of PAT, has said that we are observing the actions of the Election Commission very closely and will support all such steps of the Commission, which result in holding fair, free and transparent elections. He said that this was despite the fact that PAT entertained reservations on the composition and legal status of the Commission, which were not clarified yet.
A delegation of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) met with Dr Qadri the at his residence at Lahore. The MQM delegation, comprising of Senator Nasreen Jalil, Sindh’s Member of Provincial Assembly Raza Haroon and MQM Rabitta Committee member Saif Yar Khan, met with the Pakistan Awami Tehrik chief to discuss the upcoming elections and electoral reforms.
