Shaykh-ul-Islam said that excellence of manners encompasses the entire concept of spiritualism. Excellence of manners is all about interaction and relationship. Everyone has a relationship of sorts with other people. A man’s relationship with his Lord is that of servitude between a subject and the Master. We are related to the Holy Prophet (SAW) because we are his followers. Our relationship with the Companions is that of followers and we also have our relationship with the saints and the Friends of Allah.
Shaykh-ul-Islam said that our hearts have become devoid of fear of Allah and the culture of loot and plunder has become rampant. He said that people become miserly while spending for the sake of people’s welfare and open up coffers of their wealth for the satisfaction of their base worldly desires. Violating the self-respect of the underprivileged and downtrodden sections of society has become a norm in society today and facade of helping the poor is often resorted in order to achieve social prominence.
Speaking on “Excellence of morality”, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said that spiritualism is a combination of sincerity of intention, productive knowledge, pious deed and excellence of morality. He said that intentions lead to actions, actions lead to correct knowledge and if knowledge has been acquired for the sake of Allah, it becomes productive knowledge.

Shaykh-ul-Islam said that the last ten days of the holy month of Ramadan are coming to an end. The nation needs to bow their head before Allah Almighty and seek His forgiveness. It must beseech Allah to confer on it the willingness and capacity to reform its conduct so that the people could get rid of feeling of insecurity, fear, lawlessness, killing, and shortage of energy and water. He said that in a society in which narrow-mindedness becomes rampant, it is the sign of Allah’s displeasure.
MQI’s International Spiritual Gathering to be held on Saturday
Shaykh-ul-Islam said that journey towards seeking gnosis of Allah represents a continued migration, which has various stations. This migration is very well graded from will to repentance, to cleanliness, to obedience, then to perseverance, to labour, to gnosis, to love and lastly to nearness ending up in meeting with the Lord. According to the Hadith, the Holy Prophet (SAW) would recite ‘Istighfar’ 70 times, and 100 times according to some traditions, daily.
Minhaj Reconciliation Council (Norway) organized an Iftar dinner on August 25, 2011, which was attended by a large number of non-Muslim leaders of various communities. The proceedings of the dinner got underway with the recitation from the Holy Quran by Allama Sadaqat Ali Qadri. Iqra Mustaq, Iqra Ijaz and Iqra Iqbal of Sheema Naat Council had the honour to recite Naat on the occasion.

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said that productive knowledge protects the holder of spiritual station and there is no concept of superiority without possession of productive knowledge in future. Therefore, one must endeavour to attend the company of the scholars and the friends of Allah in order to safeguard faith as well as continue the process of spiritual growth.
Large scale ‘sehri and iftari’ arrangements made for 15 thousand mo'takefeen
On August 22, 2011, the first day of Itikaf, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri delivered his special keynote address to the thousands of participants after Fajr prayers who are attending Itikaf, an occasion for purification of heart, understanding of religion, penitence, and personal reform. Speaking on the subject of “Reality of Mysticism and Ways of Gnosis”, he said that mysticism and spiritual excellence is not about performance of rituals, nor is it confined to any particular methodology.

Thousands of people attend Itikaf organized under the aegis of Minhaj-ul-Quran International annually for purgation and purification of heart, understanding of religion, penitence, and personal reform. Itikaf City under Minhaj-ul-Quran International gets underway
The world’s second biggest Itikaf after the one held at the Two Holy Mosques in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia began in Lahore yesterday. Thousands of participants, both men and women, will spend their ten days and nights in remembrance of Allah in the Itikaf City organized under the banner of Minhaj-ul-Quran International in Jamia Al-Minhaj, Township, Lahore. Separate arrangements have been made for the female participants of Itikaf City.

World Humanitarian Day, which is being celebrated across the globe on August 19, draws our attention to the sacrifices and contributions of the aid workers and welfare organizations for the well-being and uplift of suffering humanity. It not only awakens the consciousness to acknowledge their good work but also inspires us to take a leaf from their book and do our bit for the good of humanity at both individual and collective levels.
