With Quranic recitation and Arabic declamation contest held on February 8, 2010, the annual week-long celebrations got underway at the College of Shariah and Islamic Sciences of Minhaj University Lahore. These celebrations are being held in connection with the upcoming 59th birthday of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, ambassador of peace, unity and human development.
The Directorate of Foreign Affairs, Minhaj-ul-Quran International and the President, Vice President and General Secretary of MQI-Norway extend their warm felicitations to Mrs Masarrat Iftikar, the renowned social personage, journalist and businesswoman of Norway, for being assigned the exalting and elevating responsibility of promoting the cause of peace.
The 50th edition of monthly Spiritual Gathering was held on February 4, 2010, under the banner of Minhaj-ul-Quran International at its central secretariat. It is Abul Hasan Ali bin Usman al-Hujwiri, generally known in the sub-continent as Dhata Sahib, whom he addresses in his poetry. Originally from Ghazni, now in Afghanistan, Data Sahib spent a considerable part of his later life in Lahore. Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said that terrorism was being associated with Pakistan and Islam. It was not such a tree, which had grown up all of a sudden within days or weeks. The fact of the matter is that terrorism only started about 30 years ago in Pakistan, while its inception in other parts of the world has longer history and backgrounds.

There is a shrine in Lahore that attracts the kings and rulers and common people alike. This practice has persisted for last many centuries. The man lying in his shrine was embraced by all communities including the Hindus and Sikhs and Parsees. Even after the passage of 966 years, his fame has risen everyday, evermore. Even after his demise, he is revered as a saint, and his tomb is a place of seeking spiritual blessings.
Minhaj College for Women Township Lahore organized intermediate class competition from January 28 to 30, 2010 to enhance the mental and creative abilities of the students. Naib Nazim-e-Ala Minhaj-ul-Quran International Sheik Zahid Fayyaz also honored the college with his presence.
Mr Muhammad Mustafa (GM Malik), the Principal Secretary to Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, paid a visit today to Mr Zafar Iqbal Chaudhary, the President Chamber of Commerce and Industries Lahore. He extended his warm felicitation to Mr Zafar Iqbal Chauhdary for being elected to the venerable seat of the President Chamber of Commerce. Earlier, Shaykh-ul-Islam, who is in Canada these days, had already greeted Mr Chauhdary on telephone.
Shaykh-ul-Islam condoles the death of uncle of Ashfaq Alam Qadri
Mr. Ijaz Akhtar Qadri, president of MQI Finland, paid a visit to the central secretariat of MQI on January 26, 2010. Assistant Director Protocol DFA Rana Nafees Hussain conducted the guest to different departments of the Secretariat, and briefed him about their activities and the nature of work. He appreciated the efforts being made at various levels in different directorates and departments of Central Secretariat MQI.
On Monday, January 26th, Shaykh Habib Umer bin Muhammad bin Salem Bin Hafeez visited the main centre of Minhaj ul Quran International Denmark in Valby and attended a dinner program with MQI scholars, senior executives of MQI Denmark and Muslim Youth League. He arrived with a delegation at 22.30 in the evening and was greeted by MQI executive members.
