The annual death anniversary of the father of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, Farid-e-Millat Dr Farid-ud-Din Qadri, was solemnly observed on October 16, 2008 in Basti Saleh Shah, Jhang city. The memorial meeting was held in front of his shrine. Nazim-e-Dawat Rana Muhammad Idrees Qadri, Amir-e-Punjab Ahmad Nawaz Anjum, Dr Ali Akber al-Azhari, Nusrallah Moineeni, Shafqatullah, Qudratullah Qadri and Sibghatullah Qadri were among the prominent guests.
A special memorial meeting was held on October 16, 2008, under the banner of Minhaj-ul-Quran International Bangladesh to observe the death anniversary of Dr Farid-ud-Din Qadri, the father of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri.
During the blessed month of Ramadhan the MYL UK – Sisters of Glasgow were invited to do a Radio Show on Glasgow’s Renowned Asian radio station – AwazFM. The show was hosted by Sister Naeema and representing the MYL UK – Sisters was Ambreen Mehmood, Public Relations Executive; Humma Majid, Public Relations Officer; and Sweba Majid, General Secretary.
The 21st foundational day of Minhaj Welfare Foundation was celebrated in the central secretariat of Minhaj-ul-Quran International on October 7, 2008. Nazim-e-Ala Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi presided over the programme, whereas Nazim of MWF Dr Shahid Mahmood, Amir-e-Punjab Ahmad Nawaz Anjum, Nazim DFA G.M. Malik, senior naib Nazim Secretariat Muhammad Aqil Malik, Malik Shameem Numberdar, Sajid Hameed and Sajjad-ul-Aziz were among the guests.
Attended by Nazim-e-Ala Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi, naib Nazim-e-Ala Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz, and Amir-e-Punjab Ahmad Nawaz Anjum as the chief guests, the ceremony marking the foundational day of Mustafvi Students Movement (MSM) was held in the Central Secretariat of MQI on October 6, 2008. Dr Shahid Mahmood, Dr Tanveer Azim Sandhu, Allama Ghulam Murtaza Alvi, Sayyid Ali Raza Rizvi and others were among the prominent guests at the occasion. In addition to the central leaders of MSM, a large number of students participated in the programme.
SUPREME Islamic authority Shaykh al-Islam wal Muslimeen Dr Muhammad Tahir al-Qadri joined co-workers at an `Eid al-Fitr dinner in London, United Kingdom on Sunday 5th October 2008. The dinner was held to mark the end of the sacred Islamic month of fasting and to celebrate the feast of al-Fitr. The event also attended by: Mufti al-Asr al-Shaykh Mujahid al-Chawdary of Bangladesh, Imam Muhammad Sadiq al-Qurayshi of Minhaj al-Quran centre in Newham, al-Haj Sufi Muhammad Aslam of Upton Park, Ishtiaq Ahmad president of Minhaj al-Quran centre in Newham and al-Shaykh Abu Adam al-Shirraz al-Elahi of Leicester.
Friday, the 3rd October 2008, was not only a memorable day for Germany, as it was the 18th Anniversary of the “Day of the German Unification”, this sunny day was also the beginning of the unity between Muslims and Christians in Frankfurt, Germany. This open invitation has been announced by Dr. Brigitta Sassin, German responsible for Muslim Christian dialogue by the council of Frankfurt, to various Christian communities in and around Frankfurt.

By the grace of Allah Almighty, Minhaj Women League Norway successfully hosted a three-day Spiritual Training Camp for all its board members during the third week of the Ramadan. A larger number of young girls and women spared their time to be at the camp to acquaint themselves with spiritualism and knowledge of Islamic teachings and Islam and Minhaj-ul-Quran International.
A fast-breaking meeting was arranged at the centre of Minhaj-ul-Quran International (Oslo chapter) in the holy month of Ramzan. Attended by the respected leaders of Christian, Muslim, Jews, Hindus and other communities, this meeting was attributed to the promotion of tolerance, interfaith harmony and mutual coexistence. Bishop of Oslo was the guest of honour, whereas Sender Anne from the Jews, Ms Glore of Church, Mr. Sognay of Gronaled Church, Mr. Hawa of Hindu Culture Society and other prominent people were among the notable guests.
International Spiritual Congregation was held on September 27, 2008, in the ground adjacent to Jamia al-Minhaj under the banner of Minhaj-ul-Quran International. Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri presided over the programme. Hundreds of thousands of people participated in the programme from across Pakistan and the entire world.
Addressing the hundreds of thousands of faithful at the International Spiritual Congregation, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri chose the subject of “Khashiyyiat-e-Elahi (Fear of Allah)”. He said Allah is He Who sent down the Holy Quran whose words resemble one another and have an order.
On 26th September Laylat-ul-Qadr (Night of Power) was commemorated at the MQI Glasgow under the guidance of Allama Shahid Baber. It was the first time the Tarawih Prayer was lead in the MQI Glasgow and the complete Qur'an was recited by Hafiz Muhammad Siddiqi in his unique voice. Hafiz Muhammad Siddiqi was gifted some selected books of Hazoor Sayyadi Shaykh-ul-Islam Prof. Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri for his great effort by the Al-Haaj Abdul Wahid Raza Sahib (President of Minhaj ul Qur’an International (Glasgow)).
The fourth day of Itikaf City dawned with the Fajr prayer on September 25, 2008. Talking to the participants after the prayer, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said that Minhaj-ul-Quran International held a number of programmes like Itikaf city, International Spiritual Congregation and International Milad Conference.
By the Grace of Allah Almighty & the Waseela of His Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W), the 3rd day of sisters’ I’tikaf was a very successful day. The third day began in fact on the night of 23rd Ramadan. A beautiful mehfil-e-naat was being conducted on the brothers’ side. It was transmitted live to the sisters’ side. Minhaj naat council of Sharia College & MANY OTHER FAMOUS Naat khawn made the mehfil a truly spiritually inspiring event.
On 24th September 2008, the proceedings of third day at the Itikaf City got underway with the Fajr prayers. Instructing the participants of Itikaf, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said that they should try to recite the Holy Qur’an as much as they could. He said it was a rare opportunity to complete the recitation of the entire Qur’an during these ten days. Doing so becomes difficult in the rest of year.
Addressing thousands of the faithful at the Itikaf city, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that Minhaj-ul-Quran International organizes camp against oppression, coercion, terrorism and fundamentalism in last ten days of Ramzan each year. The Itikaf city under the banner of Minhaj-ul-Quran International is an international camp against terrorism and obscurantism.
As in previous years, Minhaj-ul-Qur’an International London became the location of a community iftar dinner with over 300 participants attending the feast to end their fasts daily throughout the spiritual month of Ramadan. The centre is frequented by a multitude of other faith leaders who through the month share the experience of Ramadan by joining fellow Muslims during the iftar meal. Caretaker Daar (below) helped prepare a wonderful meal for the gathered with Haji Muzaffar.
When the proceedings of the first day of Itikaf got under way after the Fajr prayers, the participants of Itikaf in the courtyard of the Mosque were waiting for time to offer optional prayers of ‘Ishraq’ in the ‘Itikaf City’, a place characterized by understanding of religion, purgation of self, and repentance.
Thousands of the faithful from across Pakistan and the world joined the ‘Iitkaf City’ in the blessed company of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri under the aegis of Minhaj-ul-Quran International. This is the eighteenth Iitkaf gathering presently under way for understanding of faith, ones spiritual excellence, repentance and reform where the participants would remain engaged in a number of religious activities for ten days.
