As in previous years, Minhaj-ul-Qur’an International London became the location of a community iftar dinner with over 300 participants attending the feast to end their fasts daily throughout the spiritual month of Ramadan. The centre is frequented by a multitude of other faith leaders who through the month share the experience of Ramadan by joining fellow Muslims during the iftar meal. When the proceedings of the first day of Itikaf got under way after the Fajr prayers, the participants of Itikaf in the courtyard of the Mosque were waiting for time to offer optional prayers of ‘Ishraq’ in the ‘Itikaf City’, a place characterized by understanding of religion, purgation of self, and repentance.
Thousands of the faithful from across Pakistan and the world joined the ‘Iitkaf City’ in the blessed company of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri under the aegis of Minhaj-ul-Quran International. This is the eighteenth Iitkaf gathering presently under way for understanding of faith, ones spiritual excellence, repentance and reform where the participants would remain engaged in a number of religious activities for ten days.
The 18th annual Itikaf City under the banner of Minhaj-ul-Quran International started on September 21, 2008 in the Lahore city of Pakistan. The caravans of people had already started coming to the Itikaf City one day prior to the actual start of Itikaf. However, the process of arrival of participants continued till the evening prayer on the 20th of the holy month of Ramadhan.

On September 18, 2008, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri hosted an Iftar dinner for the leaders and staff members of the central secretariat of Minhaj-ul-Quran International. The monthly spiritual gathering of Gosha-e-Durood under Minhaj-ul-Quran International was held on September 5, 2008. This spiritual gathering for the month of September was held on Friday instead of usual Thursday due to the holy month of Ramdhan. Nazim-e-Ala MQI, Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abasi, who returned to the country only two days ago from his European visit, presided over the programme.

Universal Peace and Harmony Forum arranged a Great Conference for award distribution at Punjabi Complex, Qadafi Stadium Lahore on 1st Sep, 2008. Farghana Institute (Manchester chapter) hosted historic and prestigious conference in a grand hall of a local hotel in Manchester on August 31, 2008. In addition to Khateeb Jam-e-Mosque Damascus Fazeelat as-Shaykh Muhammad Saeed as-Sagharji, President Supreme Council MQI Sahibzada Hassan Mohi ud Din Qadri, as-Shaykh Sakhroof, As-Shaykh Abdur Rahman al-Hamami, Member European Parliament Sajjad Kareem, Counselors Muhammad Afzal Khan, M. Abid, Muhammad Naeem and other distinguished personalities, participated in the conference.
The inaugural ceremony of Minhaj Model English Medium School (Haveli Lakha. District Okara) was held on August 31, 2008. Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz, naib Nazim-e-Ala, and Prof Muhammad Rafique Sayal were the chief guests at the occasion. MD Minhaj Education Society Shahid Latif, Controller Examination Saifullah Bhatti, PAT leader Dr Tanvir Azam Sandhu, Muhammad Yasir Khan and other leaders were also present among the distinguished participants.
A 5-member US Christian delegation led by Mr. Leif Hetland, President Global Mission Awareness, visited the Central Secretariat of Minhaj-ul-Quran International on August 28, 2008. The other members of delegation included Dr Marqus Fida, Timothy Hatt, Jim Robens and Randall Danley. Upon their arrival at the Central Secretariat, the guests were welcomed by the central leadership of MQI.

Brothers and sisters from the entire region of Pendle, Burnley, Colne and Nelson attended the programme with some guests from Oldham and Manchester.
A grand Meraj un Nabi and Message of Peace Conference was held under the aegis of the son of Huzoor Shaykh-ul-Islam, Sahibzada Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri and Secretary General of Minhaj ul Quran International, Dr. Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi.
