HUNDREDS gathered on the afternoon of Friday 28th December 2007 at the Minhaj al-Quran International Centre based in Forest Gate, London, UK to pay respects to the late former prime minister of Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto. Imam Sadiq Quershi led worshippers in prayers on Friday for the late Benazir Bhutto who died in a suicide attack in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Imam Qureshi told mourners in a rather sombre mood “the beautiful fragrance of Benazir Bhutto will continue to dwell in people’s hearts�? he told listeners “it seems as if the poor and destitute have been deprived of their hard labour�?
A condolence meeting of the PAT Working Council was held at the Central Secretariat of the Party in Model Town Lahore and supplication for emancipation and forgiveness of the martyred Benazir was made and seven-day mourning was announced by the party leadership. The meeting also decided to call off all the programmes and activities scheduled to be held in all the MQI centers round the world. The Central Working Council of the Party awarded Benazir Bhutto the title of 'Martyre of Democracy' in recognition of the most commendable services to democracy accomplished by her. The meeting was attended by all the central leaders of the Party including Nazim-e-Aala Rahiq Ahmed Abbasi, Naib Nazim-e-Aala Shaikh Zahid Fayyaz, Anwar Akhtar Advocate, GM Malik, Ahmed Nawaz Anjum, Sajid Mahmud Bhatti, Dr Ali Akbar, Rana Muhammad Idrees, Farhat Husain Shah, Jawwad Hamid, Haji Manzur Ahmed and others. The Party Chairman Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri addressed the meeting telephonically from Canada. Addressing the meeting he called assassination of Benazir Bhutto the murder of democracy. He said her murder was the most heinous and shocking conspiracy and the most wicked assault against the solidarity of the federation.

In its continued efforts to bring unity among followers of different faiths, Minhaj-ul-Quran International (MQI) has an annual interfaith program at the time of Christmas at its central headquarters in Lahore. This year again the local Christian community was invited to celebrate Christmas at the MQI secretariat with their Muslim friends. The fifth annual "Mahfil-e-Naat & Qiraat" was held in the central mosque Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Lahore on November 27, 2007 under the banner of Bamz-e-Qadria, Minhaj University Lahore. This ceremony was held in connection with the death anniversary of Qudwat-ul-Awliya' Sayedina Tahir Ala'-ud-Din al-Qadri al-Gillani. The son of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, Sahibzada Hussain Mohy-ud-Din Qadri presided over the Mahfil. Central Amir-e-Tehreek Sahibzada Miskin Faiz-ur-Rahman Durrani, Nazim-e-Ala Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi, Nazim DFA G. M. Punjab Housing and Physical Planning Minister Syed Ali Raza Gillani visited the offices of Pakistan Awami Tehreek. He also met PAT chief Dr. Muhammad Tahir ul Qadri and shared his views with him on the current political situation. Raza Gillani visited the offices of Minhaj ul Quran and said he was satisfied that the land given to the institution for educational purpose was being used for the same purpose.

The 53rd Birthday of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri conveys to us messages of both happiness and responsibility. The happiness is obvious and justified but only those people can justify their happiness, who are working day and night according to their abilities in propagating the message of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri. The achievements of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri are immense, unique and unmatched. As a leading figure of the Muslim Ummah he has fully carried out his responsibilities in multiple fields, setting the grounds to take the Ummah forward. Now it is up to the members of Minhaj-ul-Quran International (MQI) in particular and Muslims in general to propagate the message and works of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri to every corner of the world through every possible means. People who are newly acquainted to the achievements of MQI are shocked and wonder why they did not find out about the great work, this peaceful movement is doing for Islam and mankind at large.
There is a great project being carried out by members of Minhaj-ul-Quran International (MQI) in Lahore, which can also be carried out else where. Members and supporters of MQI and PAT in Lahore, have been working on getting the lectures of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri on various cable channels which operate in Lahore. Presently lectures are aired on Lahore Cable channels daily, with lectures of Qaid Inqilab being shown on several channels simultaneously.
'Milad-un-Nabi' a book launched at the conference, which is an encyclopaedia of all issues regarding Mawlid, with its thousands pages, was sold out with in hours of its launch. Three other books of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri in Urdu were also launched on the night. A DVD set of 4 lectures of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri in the English Language on the Legality of Mawlid celebrations together with seven books by Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri in the English language will also be launched in the month of Rabi-ul-Awwal, Insha Allah.
The I`tikaf is the annual ten day seclusion which takes place in the last ten days of the Holy Month of Ramadhan. This practice is optional for Muslims and can be performed alone or collectively. It is an advance form of self purification and spiritual uplift which takes the performer into a domain which is not in the scope of fasting which is a lower form of this spiritual venture.

Two years have passed since the inception of Gosha-e-Durood of Minhaj-ul-Quran International. It was during the first week of December 2005 when Gosha-e-Durood was launched in the Central Secretariat of Minhaj-ul-Quran International. A special religious gathering marking the passage of two years since the establishment of Gosha-e-Durood was held in the ground in front of the Central Secretariat on December 7, 2007. Necessary arrangements were made for the provision of heating during intense winter including specifically decorated venue.
