LAHORE: The Pakistan Awami Tehreek has once again refused to join proceedings of the joint investigation team (JIT) formed to probe the June 17 Model Town tragedy in which 14 party workers had died and around 100 injured in a police raid on Minhaj ul Quran secretariat and residence of PAT Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri.

The 40 couples belonging to poor families tied the knot at a simple yet elegant mass marriage ceremony organized by Minhaj Welfare Foundation Faisalabad a few days ago. Every bride was gifted a household stuff of over Rs. 100,000 that consisted of various items such as the copy of the Holy Quran, prayer mat, cupboard, double-sized bed, chairs, table, brief case, sewing machine, washing machine, fan, iron, clock, utensils, dinner set, tea set, mattress, blankets, pillows, carpet, water set, make-up items and other necessities of life.

On the 27th of December 2014, the Minhaj-ul-Quran Women League Nelson hosted annual Milad-e-Mustafa (SAW) conference at the Minhaj-ul-Quran Centre in Nelson. The stage was decorated with colours and with LED lights.
On the 27th December 2014, the Minhaj-ul-Quran Women League (Birmingham) organised a Mawlid at the Naseby Road Mosque. The prayer hall was decorated beautifully with lights. The Mehfil had a very warm welcoming atmosphere.
PAT chief Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has congratulated the Muslims around the world, and people of Pakistan including overseas Pakistanis on the advent of the holy month of Rabi-ul-Awal. In his special message on the occasion, he said that the start of this blessed month is accompanied by a feeling of jubilation and festivity across the Muslims world. He said that our personal and collective happiness is nothing compared to happiness of the month.
Minhaj Welfare Foundation’s initiated a community ‘Food Bank’ on Wednesday 24th December 2014 (Christmas Eve) in London. The main aim of the event was to highlight the ever growing concern of extreme poverty in the UK. Dawood Mash’hadi, Managing Director of MWF said: “we hope that this could be the stepping stone of many more food banks to come.”

Interfaith ‘Istehkam-e-Pakistan’ Convention was held under the banner of Noulakha Church Lahore. In addition to faith leaders, people belonging to different walks of life including politicians, civil society activists and human rights workers attended the Convention. Sohail Ahmad Raza, Director of Interfaith Relations, represented Minhaj-ul-Quran International on the special invitation of the programme’s host Reverend Dr Majed Abel.

PAT Women Wing lit candles in the memory of martyrs of Peshawar tragedy at Liberty square Lahore as demonstration of solidarity with the bereaved families. Addressing the participants on the occasion, Women Wing leader Ms. Razia Naveed said that terrorism and Pakistan cannot go together. She said that the rulers should end their double standards and show courage to eliminate terrorism.
Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, President of MQI, visited Sialkot the other day and met with the family of Shaheed-e-Inqilab Gulfam Walid Bhatti at his residence in Pasrur. Talking to the family remembers of the martyr, he said that what to speak of blood, there can be no compromise even on sweat of the workers. He said that Qisas of the martyred workers will be taken in every case. He said that the oppressors have even snatched from the people their fundamental right to live.
On the 14th of December 2014, the Women's League of Minhaj-ul-Quran Nelson hosted a ‘Gyarvi Shareef Mehfil’ at the Minhaj-ul-Quran Centre in Nelson. This spiritual gathering was hosted by Sister Ghulam Fatima.
A Peace Award Ceremony was held under the aegis of International Council for Interfaith Dialogue in a local hotel in Lahore the other day. The chief guest of the ceremony was Dr William Robinson, Director EGM, USA. Directorate of Interfaith Relations, Minhaj-ul-Quran International, was given a peace award due to the organization’s efforts for promotion of peace, interfaith dialogue and harmony at national and global levels.
