The annual week-long celebrations got underway under the auspicious of Bazm-e-Minhaj (session 2011-12), an organization representative of students of COSIS, Minhaj University. These celebrations are being organized in connection with the 60th birth anniversary of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri. On the inaugural day, ‘Qiraat & Naat competition’ was held, which was attended by a large number of students from local colleges and universities.
The Hindu community living in Pakistan celebrated the festival of Holi with religious zeal and zest on March 19, 2011 in Krishna Mandir Ravi Road Lahore. A prestigious ceremony in this regard was held at 4 p.m. The leaders of Directorate of Interfaith Relations of MQI attended the festival as a demonstration of solidarity with the Hindu community and in a spirit of interfaith harmony.
A ceremony marking the 60th birthday of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri and interfaith prayer was held on March 19, 2011 in the oldest city of Christianity i.e. Vatican City under the banner of Directorate of Interfaith Relations, Minhaj-ul-Quran International. Interfaith representatives belonging to 18 countries participated in the ceremony.
Interfaith harmony and interfaith dialogue has been the key factor for a peaceful society and Minhaj-ul-Quran International has always promoted interfaith harmony at an international level. The Lambeth Palace invited Minhaj-ul-Quran UK representatives for a visit to Lambeth Palace and Westminster Abbey on 17 March 2011 and the delegation included Shaykh Sadiq Qureshi al-Azhari, Minhaj Peace and Integration Council President Abu Adam Ash-Sheerazi, and MPIC Secretary, Ishtiaq Ahmed, Minhaj-ul-Quran UK Spokesman Shahid Mursaleen and other office bearers of Minhaj-ul-Quran, Youth League and Sisters League.
The Minhaj Women League launched its countrywide Milad Campaign on 1st February, 2011 under the title “The Prophet of Mercy and Clemency”. The campaign has been launched to achieve the objectives of instilling in the hearts of the people the ardent love for the Holy Prophet (pbuh) as the Prophet of mercy and clemency, make them turn towards the threshold of the Beloved Messenger of Allah for affinity, benevolence and guidance and promote the thought and idiosyncrasy of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri in regard to the Prophetic love.
On March 16, a group of nine boys along with five adults set off from Head Quarters in Romford Road for the House of Commons. The boys were headed to meet local MP, Stephen Timms, so that they could present him with a colorful and evocative picture. Fourteen boys aged between six and fourteen worked together on the painting in the course of the Minhaj Art Class.

A team of Minhaj Youth, “Geek Power Woopies”, won the FLL Champions trophy and became the FLL Champions of Lillestrøm regional competition. This secured the team a place in the Scandinavian final where they stood second among 12,000 participants. The team is now getting ready for the European final in the Netherlands in June, Insha’Allah.
On Sunday the 13th March 2011, another grand conference was hosted by Minhaj-ul-Quran Women league Glasgow alongside Muslim Youth League, to celebrate the great occasion of Mawlid-un-Nabi (SAW). A large number of women participated from surrounding areas within Pollokshields.On this occasion, sister Ambreen Mehmood (President of MYL-Sisters) conducted the proceedings of the programme in an impressive manner by welcoming the participants wholeheartedly and thanked everyone for attending such a blessed and spiritual gathering.
For the first time in the Norwegian history an official Mawlid seminar took place, professionally organised, planned and carried out with such devotion and passion, that the main auditorium of the Oslo University College was filled with the love towards Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The annual Mawlid-un-Nabi (S.A.W) Conference, the historical event of its kind in International Islamic University New campus (H-10) Islamabad , was held under the banner of Mustafavi Students Movement, International Islamic University Islamabad on Friday (March 11, 2011) at Hostels’ Lawn. The program started with the recitation of Holy Quran by Hafiz Baseer Hazarwi.

Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri regretted that people today have given up the description of physical beauty of the Holy Prophet (SAW) and research on it and are getting deviated from the right path in the process. He said that likewise, the language of the Holy Prophet (SAW) was both comprehensive and eloquent.
Gender inequality, a hot issue, is genetically ascribed to religion whereas its causes are purely non-religious. It originates from political, economic, social and cultural factors. As for Islam, gender equality is part of its jurisprudence and fundamental teachings. Numerous Verses of the Qur’an and Prophetic Traditions enjoin gender equality which categorically proves that gender inequality is not faith-based.
Dr Joel Hayward has been appointed as ‘Strategic Policy Adviser to Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri’ after a meeting in London on March 8, 2011. Dr Hayward has been given this responsibility with immediate effect. In a four-hour meeting with Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri various issues of mutual interest were discussed including the role of Muslims in Britain, human rights and integration in British society, and the struggle against extremism.
Minhaj-ul-Quran Women League holds seminar to mark International Women Day
Sohail Ahmad Raza, Director of Interfaith Relations and the central leader of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, visited the Vatican City. His visit is a part of efforts aimed at forging unity between the Muslim and Christian communities. He called on the vice president of Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue Vatican. Cardinal Jean -Louis Tauran, Mons. Chidi Dieans Isizo. Fr. Markus Solo, Bishop Otmer Kieazoand and Aghay Reza Mafthai of Irani embassy were also present.
A Mawlid-un-Nabi Conference was organized under the banner of International Islamic Society on March 6, 2011 in Holiday Inn hotel in which Sahibzada Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, President of MQI’s Federal Council, was the guest of honour. A large number of people including Counsel Generals of Pakistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Iran and other countries and women also participated in the program. Abid Ali Baig conducted the proceedings of the Conference.
Minhaj-ul-Quran International and Pakistan Awami Tehreek jointly organized huge demonstrations to protest against the government’s consistent policy of increasing prices of POL products, dearness and escalating inflation, which were attended by thousands of men and women. These demonstrations were simultaneously held in Rawalpindi, Karachi, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Gujrat and other towns.
