The late Pakistani pioneer Benazir Bhutto's sister Ms Sanam Bhutto visited the Minhaj ul Quran International centre on Romford Road in London on Saturday 10th February 2008. Ms Sanam Bhutto along with members of the Bhutto family joined members of the public and workers of Pakistan People's Party in saying prayers for the late Ms Benazir Bhutto who died on 27th December 2007 in a suicide attack in Rawalpindi in Pakistan.
On the fifth day of weekly celebrations held under the auspicious of Bazm-e-Minhaj (Minhaj University), a grand Mahfil-e-Mushaira was organized. The moot was presided over by Principal Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi, while Khawaja Ghulam Qutab-ud-Din Faridi was the guest of honour at the occasion. On the fourth day of weekly celebrations being held under the banner of Bazm-e-Minhaj in the College of Shariah and Islamic Sciences (Minhaj University), All-Pakistan inter-collegiate speech declamation contest in Arabic and English languages was held. The topic of English speech was "What man has made of man!" and that of Arabic speech was "One succeeds in obtaining whatever one strives for". Principal Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi presided over the event, while Vice Chancellor of Veterinary University Dr Muhammad Nawaz, senior Professor Superior College Haseeb-ur-Rehman, Prof Muhammad Asim Manzoor, Brig. (r ) Muhammad Iqbal were the guests of honour. Mufti Abdul Qayyum Khan Hazarvi, Prof S. M. Shafique, Dr Masood Mujahid, Muhammad Akram Qadri, Mian Muhammad Abbas, Ahmad Nawaz Anjum, Aqil Malik, Faizullah Baghdad and other teachers of COSIS were also present at the occasion.

The topic of declamation contest was "set your sail in accordance with the direction of the wind". Principal of College Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi chaired the programme while former provincial minister Sardar Hassan Akhtar Moakal was the guest of honour at the occasion. Pakistan Awami Tehreek organized Kashmir Conference on February 4, 2008 in its central secretariat to express its support for the ongoing freedom movement in the held Kashmir. Highly informative article on Sufism in Europe featuring Minhaj-ul-Quran International and its founder Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir ul Qadri by Alix Phippon (A PhD Student who visited MQI headquarters in 2004). During the month of Muharram-ul-Haram, Glasgow Minhaj Women League organised a programme in remembrance of one of the most significant events in the history of Islam; the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (ra). In this gathering over 250 women attended from different areas of Glasgow and other sisters traveled from Edinburgh to be part of this blessed event. The program began with Sister Tasneem Babar reciting a Surah from the Holy Quran. This was followed by the host of the event, Sister Ambreen Mehmood (ICIS graduate), welcoming all the sisters.

Shaykh Dr Muhammad bin Yahya al-Husayi al-Ninowy, one of the descendents of the Imam Husayn (radiyallah ta'ala anhu), visited Minhaj-ul-Quran International, London, to bless the participants with his noble presence on New Years Night. It was a spiritual gathering organised by Minhaj-ul-Quran Youth League, London. It aimed to keep distracted youths away from the amusements of the world and to enable them to participate in a setting which would bestow them with an enlightened heart. Many youth indulge in un-civilised behaviour during this night and a spiritual gathering in the house of Allah would be a great opportunity to divert their attentions towards their Creator. Roughly 500 brothers and sisters attended the function.
